Does anyone know how to perform a wedding on their boat? What is reqiured to be legal? Where do you find a book with the ceremony in it?

Ken,

My best advice is to skip the ceremony and just live in sin.

I''ve been married for 16 years, to late to do anything about that now. I have a couple that would like to get married on my boat. I believe as Captain there is some way to perform the marriage at sea.

Isn''t that CG license trick good only for 24 hours, or a long weekend at most.........or just until you pull back into the slip?????

Ahoy, Ken, Urban legend my friend. Only in international waters by a duly certified commercial captain. Even still the country you live in might not recoginise the marriage if you have any immigration problems.(I.E. bringing home your native wife). Every state requires some sort of license proir to any ceremony so call your state or federal officials. Big Red56

We have a sign for our boat that clearly states "Marriages performed by the captain of this vessel are valid only for the duration of the voyage."

I have not as yet been asked to perform this service.

I would suggest finding a wedding consultant on one of the islands, and they can arrange everything, as simple or as elaborate as you desire. They can also handle license issues. We got married in St. Thomas, but on the beach, and they had it all set up when we arrived.
