Donna Lange nearing home...

For those of you who have been following her voyage...she is now just 140 miles from Newport having put a temporary fix into her forestay which was lost a couple of days ago. She has one minimal gale to weather still but should be pulling in no later than Thursday after her remarkable voyage around the world in a 28 footer. Didn't hit any freighters along the way either!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Unfortunately she will be welcomed by wind, rain, and a natural fireworks display to celebrate her homecoming.

The prospect of forestay failures is why I carry a retired mainsheet tackle 'n' shackles...it gives you a fighting chance of keeping the mast up.
