You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I like that song, but that's not "old" Rod Stewart. I was talking about his days with Jeff beck, Ronny Wood and the Faces. When he was cool.

OK, so he's a friend of mine, but ERIC STONE is one of the finest singer/songwriters I've ever heard. And he's a sailor, so he knows of what he sings. Here are a few samples of my favorites off of his web site, Eric Stone's Official Home

I thought you were seventeen years old.
If I did my math correct that means you were born in 1990?

What would somebody born in 1990 know about Jeff Beck??

I wasn't around in the 18th century either, but I know a little about Beethoven too. lol. No really, my music selection as a little kid was limited to about 200 worn out cassette tapes belonging to my wannabe rockstar parents. I also play a little classical guitar, and if you've heard any of Jeff Beck's recent stuff, he really is amazing.

Perfect. I knew you had good taste.

Whenever you get bored, go through the U-Tube lists for your fave artist--they seem to change and come 'n go at random. Last month was a slew of old live Rod and the Faces. I go through a Bowie kick now and again, or the English Beat, or Marley, or whatever suits the mood. Lot of jewels out there...

This is the 2nd time this weekend that I've heard good things about X-M. May have to give it a shot, since the boat is in Mexico............

I saw Eric Stone preform at a boat show, I don't get it. He isn't that good. Is it that he is just a friend of Bob Bitchen ?

Yes, he is very good. Of course, personal opinions are just that. However, his first CD went gold (which is rare for someone who publishes his own music). Which means there are more than 100,000 people out there who think he is good. By now, with more than 10 CDs he's probably over half a million sold. That's why I put the links to samples of his work, so other people can hear for themselves and decide whether or not they like his music.

I'm not a big fan of Rod Stewart, but I'm not going to say something negative about him. Other people like him, so I respect that and leave it at that. Why so many people on this forum have to be negative, I just don't get it. I guess I took dear old Mom's words to heart growing up: "If you don't have something nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all." At least I'm glad the majority of posters keep things positive. You know, like a true sailor...

Will agree that Stone is almost unlisten-to-able, but last year we saw him in Redondo with a new 19 y/old kid that kicks ass. He did a Star Spangled Banner rendition that was incredible...........

First off, we love Jimmy Buffet and have all of his CD's... however, we purchased a local CD in Bimini sort of a Calypso medley, done by local singers in bimini... it has become one of our favorites!!!! Always great to get some local flavor... Acoustic Alchemy is also one of our favorite sailing CD's... it just has the rhythem of a day on the ocean... We try to vary our music to go with our moods and the wind... you just never know what you'll feel like listening to.... that's our suggestion.. nothing is better than "Banking off a northeast wind, sailing on a summer breeze... skipping over the ocean like a stone.... Jimmy's the best...
Any suggestions for us??? Love to hear from you..

Kim and Ray
