KiteCam Video

Here is a cool video of a PSC Dana singlehander. He flies a kite with a camera from different points of sail. I think the best one is towards the end when he is running with two headsails and flies the kite low in front of the boat. Be advised, the obligatory Enya soundtrack accompanies this one so be ready to sail away.

That's pretty cool! I'd be too nervous about splashing my video camera.

BTW, how in the hell does he keep the boat in the frame?

Lipstick cam, I'd think. Duct tape it to the kite string. Since the string always points back at you, so would the camera.

OK being a newbie, I just want to state this. If I did that, I would tangle the line in the shrouds, rip a sail, lose the camera, and hurt myself somehow in the process

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

That was neat. Thanks for sharing.

Me and the kids used to do that when anchored. I have never done it sailing. Unfortunately, everyonce in a while the wind would want to die and the kite would drop to the water!! Oh well. Still, anyone that has kids aboard or grandkids, it is a really cheap source of entertainment.
