JBoatJack says, two of the best wooden boats we ever owned were Lippincott lightnings from Riverside NJ.

Hey JBoat, Cant say I know the boat. Do you have a pic you could share. Very interested.
Thanks!

Hey sailingnewby, yes we saw that one too. Very nice.

I am in awe of anyone who can cope with a timber boat. After re caulking the hull of a forty footer I'd had my fill of the things. Look great, emotion in motion and all that but oh my the work involved.

(I've owned three timber boats other than tenders. One skiff , a keeler and a stinker. Never again unless cold moulded and glassed but to each his own.)

Yea, I own, and still live aboard my “wooden boat”. And I’m not crazy. Not even slightly deranged. My Jesse Boyce isn’t just one of the prettiest boats in ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Gloucesterlace>, she’s one of the toughest too! At 22 years old she’s still tight as a drum. Ol’ Fred Dowalo sure knows how to build ‘em!

Wait! Did I log into the wrong forum.....Are we really speaking of boats made of wood? Oh my, who would be that crazy?

I feel privileged to sail and care for one. I prefer to view it as a passion rather than a mental illness....

Not for everybody though, without the basic skills and will to stay on top of things or the money to pay others to do so, wooden boats suffer from neglect.

At 45 Whampoa still has many years ahead of her......

We owned a 1931 32' wooden Yawl lived on it in Sausalito and San Fran for about a year. Great boat loved sleeping on her listeding to the creaking of the her wood, she was alive! Mickey was great a master mariner winner and contender though out the 80's. Wish I never sold her now :-( (that is a story all in it self) Although I do not miss the maint. I will post some pics once I dig them up.

Bluenose II

A lovely video of Bluenose II. Sad to report that this wonderful vessel has just been wrecked on a reef in the Canadian Gulf Islands. It is doubtful whether she can be saved.

Cheer up. It's currently in Nova Scotia and doing just fine. You may be thinking of the Robbertson II. Heritage tall ship Robertson II runs aground, at risk of sinking

Oooops, you are correct, it was the Robertson II. I have this bad habit of tapping my fingers on the keyboard before my brain goes into gear !
You have given relief to a worried old sailor.
