And you're always going to be six-years-old to your parents...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Good grief, just the title of this thread makes me laugh every time I see it. What a hoot!

With all due respect Son... you've got a ways to go before you are a teacher or an owner of a marina. That being said, don't ever let anyone discourage you from your dreams. Keep at it and one day you will arrive.

Thanks for the encouraging words, I think as long as you have people working for you that knows the business everything should be ok. I guess having money too would help. Maybe I will win the lottery!

Sorry, wasn't really trying to be rude (just come by it natural-like), but the 'how hard can it be' just adds a touch of surreal to an otherwise reasonable question. By all means follow your dreams, but please don't underestimate the work involved (especially since others will be relying on you to prepare them to cross oceans....). I've had good sailing instructors and seen some mediocre ones. If you're going to do this, please bust your arse to be one of the better ones, otherwise you're contributing to the pool of "90-percenters".

("90-percenters" being a term my one instructor used in describing the fools with improperly trimmed sails who don't know the rules of the road or how to anchor properly. The actual percentage may be higher... They generally have really expensive boats , though ... )

No problem mike I know you erent trying to be rude its just the way it comes across that all its a email thing!

Lets get this clear here I would not or intend to send anyone somewhere where I have not been therefore that means a OCEAN! I can tell you right now if you are sailing in the ocean and you go out on trips you are a warrior in my eyes! I wish I could say I have sailed on the Ocean but I cant because it would not be true! I could only teach someone what I know and it maybe isn't alot but I could get them to get a sailboat to move if someone needed to know how! To me its like ridding a bike, + I play a sailing game http://www.virtualskipper-game.com/en/
