Some people just don't know how to use google to get what they want. We can find anything, like the house we are in now. We drove by saw the uncut grass and used the online tax records to find the owner's name and then looked up their number online. It's really scary how easy it is to find stuff online.

Anyway troll or not that is not enough info to find phrf on a tayana 37. might be different across the years and models.

To save you using your dumb question log on, PHRF stands for performance handicap racing fleet.

I looked at 2 PHRF outfits (Chesapeake and New England) and neither had a rating for a Tayana 37. Could it be that no one races this boat???????

I believe PHRFs vary by the area you will be racing in. There are regional PHRF associations that set the PHRF ratings for that area of the country. If you are planning on racing you will need to be certified by the local association. The PHRF rating is also affected by the type of equipment you have, such as exotic sails, folding props, etc. Once you find your local PHRF association they typically list all the boats they have rated so you should be able to get an idea as to the rating you are looking for. Here is the address for the New England Phrf association, it should answer a lot of your questions. www.phrfne.org/

The Tayana 37 has PHRF ratings between 174 and 193 depending on region and perhaps configuration , the only two ratings that I found for the T37. By way of comparasion, a Southern Cross 39 rates around 138, a moderately fast, 1970's era 37 foot coastal cruiser would have a rating down around 110-120. A late 1970's performance cruiser might rate somewhere down around 72-90 and a modern performance coastal cruiser might rate in the 50's.

Needless to say, the rating for the Tayana falls somewhere slower than very slow.

While PHRF NE may not have rated any Tanyan 37s, they do list the base handicap for a Tanyan 37 in New England as being 174.
