HELP - Foul Weather Gear REC''''s!

I''m looking for sailors opinions on foul weather gear! If you could do it all over again, what foulies would you buy? I do most of my sailing offshore, and currently use the old West Marine yellows, but am looking to upgrade to better gear. Any suggestions?

This probably will come down to what fits your particular body best -- or at least that''s what happened with me. Seems that Gill fits me best. I have one of their Antigua outfits for warmer weather/close to shore because it''s very lightweight but still keeps me dry. I also have one of their Southern Cross outfits for cooler temps or farther offshore. It''s more substantial in construction.

Don''t forget good boots. They are as important as everything else. Again, I have Gill boots.

I have a gill suit as well, the fit was the best. I also have two extra commercial fishing suits that I use in the summer.

I have had good luck with both Musto and Henri Lloyd brands. If you are using them primarily offshore make sure you buy a suit that is made for that purpose. Gore-tex or another breathing material is a must as are features such as a built-in harness, good hood design, etc.
