Is it really........

Labor day weekend already?
What happened to summer?
You blink and its gone.
We have a 60 mile trip planned, leaving Saturday morning.
Hope to take advantage of the extra day.

Umm... It is LABOR DAY weekend, not Memorial Day weekend, which is the traditional start to the summer season... You're a bit confused.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Labor Day weekend, I'm sure is what you meant to say. But yes . . I'm completely PO'd by how quickly the season went by. There're still many weekends of nice sailing left - at least in southern NE that is.

My wife's flying down to NC to visit our new grandson Sunday morning - for nearly three weeks. I'll join her in two weeks, so looks like I'll have lots of solo sailing time . . without dealing with her heeling fears, I might add (g) .

Labor Day Blues

I hate Labor Day. It reminds me summer is coming to an end and I'm always really busy from about last week of Aug. through Sept. 15th which puts a big crimp in my sailing. Hoping for good weather from Sept 15 though end of Oct. Usually get some great sailing in during that time frame and don't have to worry about mooring reservations or packed anchorages. You can just follow the most favorable wind.

Yep, summer is over. Our leaves are already changing colours over here and the air is getting cooler. Going for the last full of week of sailing today. You can bet the boat will be full of dew in the morning and steam will be rising from the lake. Our season is way too short here. Here's hoping for a nice fall.
Hope everybody has a great long weekend.
