arbarnhart is on a distinguished road
My avatar isn't really me or even really my boat, though I am a human and my boat is a Newport 17, so it is sort of accurate. I was with a couple of other boats on Saturday and I am kicking myself for not asking them to take pictures (they both had cameras) when I had three of my kids up on top of the cabin and fore deck and the fourth child being towed on a boogie board. That would have made a good avatar. I guess I will have to do it again!

Great shots, Alex! I hope to get my family to do a dream vacation like that someday. I have a lot of learning to do before that is possible; I am amazed at the number of lines in some of your pictures.

Hey, if we come in the winter, it's only 93 euros a week for a 12 metre boat! Now, if we can find a place that does nice cataplana...

SD,

Went to OSU in the early 80's. Had a hard time choosing between happy hour and class at the time. Happy hour won. I grew up outside Dayton. I have been out of Ohio over 20 years and am still a Buckeye.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ahh, but SD, he did take that photo. What he didn't tell us though is that he first Photoshopped the image before posting.

I was able to unmask his efforts by going into the photo's picto-history and discovered just where he "borrowed" the keel for his boat . . .
