Hmmm, I dont know the person your talking about, but it dont seem right to wish someone to die at sea or any other place. Just my thoughts, not trying to strat anything, your post just kinda blew me away when I thought about it. Have a nice day.
I had the same thought. However, after reading all of Hiram's posts, I can understand the sentiment. This guy (Hiram) is way off base - in one of his posts he threatened to lurk on this forum in hopes of finding out some boat names to meet them offshore with his "little friend."

Hiram is just a troll, but he's vicious in his attacks. I agree he should be banned.

In my opinion, lack of response to him is a response to him. Ignore the posts. Failure to do so achieves their intended purpose.

From what I've seen: Probably not someone you'd wish to know. So count yourself blessed .

But if you're curious: Posts by HiramMChittenden. Executive summary: 19 posts in one week, 17 of which are either whining about the replies he got to a question, criticizing SailNet and its membership, attacking a specific member, or a combination of the three.

Yeah, that last was perhaps a bit over the top Sailormann.

Side Note: Doesn't this thread rightfully belong in Off Topic?

When you respond, you give the troll power. When you ignore the troll, he starves for attention and eventually dies.

Yes a bit strong but stated from the heart. I hope we do ignore this recalcitrant and I like to know the names of our member’s boats in the hope of meeting up and becoming friends.

Well said, Simon. Besides, it's too late for most members not to publish the names of their boats ( I just don't have one yet or I would)... on a note to ignoring the troll, that is exactly what should happen here. This person is mentally unbalanced and any attention is good attention to them, I say this not to feed the troll but to warn other members not to enter into direct argument with said troll--that's what he or she is after. Left alone they may go away. This is the same person who will call 911 to argue with the operators because they are the ones who HAVE to answer the phone...

The troll thread reminds me of the days of CB Radio. There was always the guy that would kick your behind once and fer all back behind the KMart or the McDonalds and he would never show. I used to enjoy the Fox hunts trying to track down the offending transmitter when ever he would key up. Not to mention the look on his face when finally confronted.... O' the joys of youth. Pray that he may some day graduate from his paper boat.

Fair Winds,

Bill
