Congradulations, your and your father should be very proud. Keep it up, we will keep our eyes out for you in the olympics. You are on the right road!

Good job Fred...

Next year, I am sure you will do much better. You need to get some practice in light winds though.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Hi Fred,

GREAT job! The simple fact that you competed is excellent and now you know how to prepare for next year. Keep up the good work and before long you'll be giving your dad lessons.

Congratulations Fred! I had my first race about a month ago and there was no wind and A LOT of sun. We didn't do so well! I'm used to big wind as well but it was still fun

Fred, it's Marc the Canadian here. I see from your father's videos how good you are at watching the sails and the waves as well as your course when you are driving the boat. I can believe that you are just as good when you are steering by tiller in your Optimist.

If you ever show up on my boat, I would be happy to turn over the helm to you. You have good habits!

Of course, my boat is a little more substantial than yours, but I'm sure you can handle it! My niece does all right, and she is half your age!

Your father is a very proud man and you give him good reason to be. You have a great attitude and will go far.

any 'starting opti' advice for my son?

(cross posting this in case you missed it)

Hi Fred, congrads on your good showing in the nationals! My 6 year old son love watching the video of you sailing your opti and the idea that kids could have their own boat and sail it themselves kinda captivated him. We ended up watching sailing videos on youtube for an hour after that, his favorites were the offshore volvo race videos. uh oh.

I'm planning on starting him next year in the opti program here. Do you have any advice about starting in optis for him?
