I am disappointed at the number of people on this net that do not fill in the Additional Information section. I know the amount of information one publishes on the internet is a personal choice, BUT, knowing a little more about the members adds a little more creditability the there post. I personally fine knowing what there boat is, and where they sail, interesting, not to mention should I find someone close, the possibility encountering them on the water is intriguing, Beside if one hangs around for even a sort time most of the information will come out anyway. How do the rest of you feel?

The location of the poster would be nice to know as I think it helps understand "where he is coming from". Is he a lake, bay or ocean sailor.

Agreed that providing some additional profile info pertaining to member's boats adds some "credibility", but many are not boat owners and are here to learn and do research.

As far as personal data goes, we're all vulnerable to receiving aggressive reactions to our replies and comments. Not everyone sees the humor in what is at times, intended as sarcasm. Therefore I think that most frequent forum contributors, maintain an incognito profile as a means of defending their true indentity, for fear of "owning" their words.

In reality, we're all vulnerable to identity exposure, regardless of our stealth attempts - particularly, through USCG documentation and other means.

I agree. I ofter hit the prifile but to see what the poster is sailing and where. Usually just curious. I'll bet the number of people filling out the profile is about 50%.

Hi, I just signed up as a new member and filled out some of the information - not all. I'm always concerned how secure my personal information is on line and try to be careful. Careful or not I don't think someone should try to meet new people and ask their opinions on line without at least sharing a first name and where you live.

I hate filling out forms, can't seem fit my information into the boxes provided. I posted some information in a previous thread on the same subject.

Yes, there was a troll, HRC, who had made somewhat veiled threats after trash talking quite a bit... managed to get himself banned in less than 20 posts.
