Hailing Port Question

I am in the process of putting name and hailing port on our boat.

I have decided to document it also (it was documented before, so it is easy to do).

The USCG says hailing port should be in 4 inch letters- Should I make it all caps 4 inches high? I would like to make it in caps and lower case, but then the lowercase letters would not be 4" high, so I am assuming that is not an option.

Is this correct? Just doublechecking, Thanks-

SaltyPat

hazmat17 is on a distinguished road
I can't recall seeing a mix of caps and lowercase on a sailing port.

That said, What (if any) penalties are there for not following the "rules". A little civil disobedience is good once in a while, hint hint.

I'm 99% sure you can go with 4" capital then smaller lower case for your Home port name, I see it all the time

I've seen them in upper and lower case... as long as the CAP height is 4", you should be alright.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The requirement is that all letters are 4" high. Nevertheless, I don't think Homeland Security will be out looking for you if you don't do all caps.
