Dry Storage Question...

Hello ,
I am currently considering a new option in my sailboating future,Sailing from the east coast over to the Bahamas and Carribean for several months at a time,simple,lots of people do it.(Heres the catch)Then when my yearly adventure/vacation is over sail back to the USA and put my boat in dry storage and do any maintenance or repairs as required.Making her ready for the next season of sailing.
Could someone comment if my dry storage idea is a good one?Im trying not to break the bank with unneeded expenses,such as leaving my boat tied in a marina and being consumed by blisters and sea critters.
My boat(I hope) will be a 28-30 footer or so,set up for single hand sailing.(I''d really hope for a J28 but have never seen one for sale.I think this model could be put on a trailer and towed to my backyard!!)

Its not a bad way to go especially if you can tow your boat home and store her in your yard. I am finding so much easier working on my boat since she is at my house, (even though I am still remodeling the house and don''t live there yet) because I can set up my work in the shed and not have to get things out and put them away each time as you do in a boat yard.

In some ways storing a boat on a trailer is a little harder on a boat than storing a boat in the water where it is fully supported. If you do decide to store on a trailer I would go through the trouble of constructing ''profiled bunks'' that support the weight of the boat with stiff sections that follow the curves of the hull.

The only other thing is that in many areas dry storage is more expensive than a slip.
