Blowing 50-60 today up here.

You other PNW guys best add some lines to the boat this AM if ya haven't already. Am I sailing this time? Nope! While I wouldn't mind the experience and the boat could handle it, the boat's not ready, the crew's not ready and neither am I this time. Tie em up good cause it's gonna blow dog off'n the chains tonight.

This is where I would have my boat rigged for foul weather. Ah la! with extra mooring lines and buttoned up tight. Then I would be over at the nearest Restaurant and watch it blow as I enjoy a good meal that is on a stationary table along with a dram or two of my favorite drink.
Now if I was caught offshore then I would rig for foul weather, button the vessel up tight and enjoy the wild ride, while at the helm.
The trick here is knowing how to rig your vessel for foul weather (in port or at sea). Every movable object put away, or tied down. Shortened sail and a thermos full of hot liquids. Tea, coffee, cocoa or even soup, what ever you prefer. A secure place for that thermos by the helm also. Then ride it out.

Weather guys have been talking about this all week, block style hardware stores had a run on generators yesterday...........local marina weather system is not working, but feel wind above it is still less than 15 knots/mph at the moment. Should be a good day for sailing!

Yeah Alex, it was MPH. The better forcast system from the UW is calling for 42-49 Knots in the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, right off my mooring, later today. I'm good but I have to replace that tranny cable again this weekend as it broke. Other than that, the boat is still fine. How's your family?
