water storage vs. land storage during winter

I have a 1986 Catalina 27, in WestBrook CT. I am taking the boat out of the water to work on the keel, but and considering putting it back in the water for the winter. What are the pros and cons with wet storage vs dry storage. The possibility of being able to sail on a warm winter day is quite enticing.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Andrew

k1vsk will become famous soon enough
As long as your insurance allows winter lay-up and the marina water is protected from freezing, there is no disadvantage. The need to dry out a SOUND hull each year is a myth, the paint and zincs can be renewed in a short-haul in the Spring (if necessary). If the marina loses electricity, which is possible, it's reasonable it will be repaired LONG before substantial ice could build up.
About the only reason we haul in RI is to bottom paint every other year and properly dissassemble and lube the seacocks
