Oday 22

Hi new to the website. Live in Boston boat on the Cape. Spend my time on an O'day 22 and a 17' Montauk Whaler. Actually just purchased the O'Day 22use to sail an O'Day 302 awhile back. Just looking for others that own an O'Day 22. I am in the process of updating her and can always use some advice and hints.

Congratulations and welcome to Sailnet. Don't have an O'day 22, but do sail out of Buzzards Bay. :D

We owned a 1975 O'Day 22 for 20 years... ask away!!! Just put it on the market since we got a Pearson 27 but we still love that 22!

oday 22

Hello, I just bought an oday 22 from a broker and It needs some work. I am searching for some good resources. I don't even know how to rig it. This is my first boat bigger than a sunfish. My first concern; is it a difficult boat to trailer? Any info to point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated. thanks david

Hi David,
What year boat do you have? Fixed keel?

Although it's much bigger than a sunfish, No... it is not a difficult boat to trailer. Our 1975 only has a 1' 11" fixed shoal keel so it's easy to get on and off a trailer. Stepping the mast is not to much work either but it has been my experience that it will require atleast two people. Running Rigging is fairly simple... make sure the jib sheets are outside the stantions. Do you have a furler?... or is it a hank on Jib? Also... my halyards are located on the cabin top... Jib on Port and Main on Starboard w/ cam cleats to hold them..... same as yours?
