Obsession

Just a quick question: Why do I think about sailing, sailboats, new(er) sailboats, bigger sailboats all of the time? I mean ALL of the time (except when I am thinking about sex). I go to sleep imagining the feeling of the wheel or tiller in my hand (still sailing here guys), I ignore my work to slink around in these forums. I lurk in boatyards, stroking the smooth hulls (STILL sailing here guys). I scan every boat for sale site on the planet. I plan my travel to include side trips to see yachtworld listings. I finance the boats in my head, deciding what I will sell to pay for them. I will sail anytime, in any boat, with anyone who feels like sailing. I have a family. I have 2 young kids and a wife and a dog and a house and 2 careers. I love all of them, and properly prioritize my activities to include all of them. But whenever I can, I edge them a bit closer to the marina, or to the waterfront, or even a lake, so that I can catch a glimpse of the conditions, or the boats that are out. Who knows? Maybe someone needs crew.......

Am I alone out here?

Nope, except, when I think about sex it's always on a boat. I constantly check sailfow when I am indoors for conditions on the bay. I am sure at sometime, (like 100 years old), I will get tired of it, (sex that is, but not sailing).

Don't have an answer for your question Bardo, but if you find that magic pill, please let me know. I will definitely destroy my career and marriage, unless I find a cure to this obsession . . . soon!

Perhaps......just perhaps......if we all shut off our computers. Or just blocked this web site, we could all get something done. Maybe take up gardening, or painting in oils. Maybe the obsession is fueled by the "community" of fellow obsessors. I guess thats the miracle of the WWW. We all enable each other's obsessions. Not that that is a bad thing!

It all boils down to this....

IT'S SAILNET'S FAULT.

but it would seem that we are all helpless to abandon this addiction/obsession/compulsion.

I have got to show this to my wife Julie.
I thought I was the only one.
