Wasn't there a difference between speed over ground & speed thru water?

Everyone loves Cap'n Tenuki. The idiot is the fellow who says something like "appears to be sailing upwind..." No kidding? What gives you that idea? Looks like he's sailing wing-and-wing to me. And then ol' Roy feels he should add that it doesn't look "even close to 13." Another excellent observation. I'd say that it looks somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 kts. The Portugee is padding the stats by 10 kts. -- just to impress us!

That's the speed through water you're hearing about... what Giu doesn't mention is that there's a wicked five knot current there. He's really only going about 8 knots.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

My speed is measured on the water, not GPS crapp.

Its speed over water, not over ground. The GPS is off since October.

Besides, this is Cascais, Atlantic, little currents here.
