bus/train service in eastern CT??

I am purchasing a boat which is currently in Stonington and need to take it to Essex where some work will be done on it. I realize that these two spots are not very far apart but wonder if there is a reasonable way to get from one to other by bus or train (a cab is likely very expensive) since I will have a car at one end (or the other). The trip would likely be next weekend (weather permitting).
