Recreational Boating Act of 2007

some of you U.S. readers may be interested in sending letters in support of this legislation to your representatives in Congress

Called both of my senators and told them how disapointed I am in their inaction on this.

Just sent a letter to my representative, Patrick Kennedy. Aside from the added boating expense of annual fees, the last thing we need is another redundant permitting and inspection process.

Especially one that does basically nothing useful and wasn't originally targeted at recreational boats, which aren't the cause of the problem the legislation is designed to combat.

Written my senators and my rep.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Just received an automated response . . .

Quote:
Thank you for your email message. Hearing from Rhode Islanders and citizens across the country is important to me and I appreciate your taking the time to contact me with your thoughts and concerns.

For first district residents, I will reply to your correspondence as soon as possible via email or postal mail. Due to the high volume of correspondence and limited resources, I am regrettably unable to respond to out-of-state inquiries.

Finally, I hope you will make use of my House office website, www.house.gov/patrickkennedy, which may be helpful in addressing your
concerns.

Once again, thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Patrick J. Kennedy
Member of Congress

gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling how truely interested he is to hear from a constituent. Just happy it doesn't sponsor funding for the wind farm within view of the summer home...

This needs to be action item #1; and email is NOT enough. Telephone calls and letters (not form letters) count 10X as much.

With this being an election year, this could easily get lost in the background noise. We cannot let that happen!

Well said.
There are too many people who think this is simply another piece of junk legislation or worse, there are some who think it may have some environmental benefit. Neither is the case. I personally believe passage is a slam-dunk but for some strange unforseeable reason, if it does not pass, we have a real problem far beyond the meager cost of paying for permits.
