Dad was killed in action. We three kids got free college. Not the way you want to get it but it's there. My nephew is in a Marine program which pays 100 percent of his college. He owes them (us) 7 years when he's done. That's a great program. I had several friends in it back in college.

Tough break Bob. My Dad split when I was 8. I had to work for everything I have today - no gifts.

I assumed Giu meant 'Catholic' School. I was just pointing that out to him.

Uh oh, me too. Are we finding another underlying theme here besides the right wing?

I had the good fortune of putting three kids through private Catholic colleges. Try about $80,000 each and that was 10 years ago. No wonder I'm still broke.

Tough for you too. I agree 100 percent with your views in this thread. The fund for our kids college is mature and ready . . . early. They don't know it and won't. Our 16 yr old boy is incredibly responsible. He has ten thousand in the bank he earned by himself reffing soccer. Our girl on the other hand, sounds like yours. Extremely intelligent with grades in the high 90's but it's a battle to keep her to it. Changes her mind often. Work is a four letter word to her.
