The boat would be much safer in the water, since it will have a much lower center of gravity, more support to the hull, the ability to move with the wind a bit, and far less area exposed to the wind. Also, neighboring boats don't pose a domino effect risk.
A friend of mine was telling me how his marina now stores the boats on the hard in individual "pits" which leave the boats sitting at about their normal waterline. This is down in the Caribbean for hurricane storage and probably wouldn't work in northern states.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I am not sure... but the boat is either a custom made, handcrafted, exquisitely enginered, one of a kind Oyster 36 or a Catalina 36. Tough to tell from this view point...
I am more talking about, how can you tell the extent of damage to each of the three vessels? I must be missing something, but I don't see any damage on the outside two versus the middle one.....?
I just don't get the reactions I get when I suggest they do something to prevent windstorms causing the topple/domino effect. Geeze they act like I'm the enemy or something! Like duh? " (gotta just keep my mouth shut!)

my boat was on a mooring on the Severne River during a good blow. Before the storm I asked the mooring guy if he thought the mooring would be ok. He said the mooring would hold, which it did for that storm. Three weeks later, a 50 knot micro storm came in and the shackle that holds the chain to the screw anchor broke, and my boat floated about 2 miles down river and got stuck in the mud. Mooring guy just said , bad shackle, it happens.
GOT IT! I'm a little slow at times, but suddenly the clouds parted and chorus sang. You had me all freaked out and wondering if either everybody else had super-ninja insight powers or I was just blind.
Just lost one boat, almost lost the other. Sustained winds over 60, gusting over 80. Buccanneer18 rolled onto its side, SJ spun broadside & was lifting. Both trailers had wheels well-chocked and tongues staked down.
Now got about seven T-stakes and a tractor tire trying to hold the SJ21 in place. The Bucc I just stabilized and can't deal with right now.
Guy across the street is building a really big log house. Just lost his end gables, ridge beam, rafters, loafing shed, buckrail fences, and the gazebo over his hot tub.
Stunningly, the wind turbine seems to be holding on. So far.
