labatt will become famous soon enough
What sailing stuff did you get for Christmas/Chanukah/holiday you celebrate?

My wife made me an incredible quilt based on a picture I took of the Burlington VT harbor. It will be for our next boat to remind us of our original cruising grounds. I'll get a pic of it up shortly. Other than that, only a few small odds and ends as we're trying to get rid of all of our stuff for our trip in 2009!

What did you get?

Our main sailing gifts this year are experience-related. My wife and I both sprung for 13 weeks of evening RYA Dayskipper courses starting in January, followed by a week-long Channel Island cruise/course (for her) in May, and a week-long Brittany cruise (for me) in June.

One other thing-- we hope to go take a close look at a Malo 38 this weekend. I imagine that could be a rather nice Christmas present, if it ended up in our hands...

I was rather hoping to wake up this morning and find a 54' sailboat on my front lawn... oh well...

I received a Casio Sea Pathfinder wrist-watch and a ball-cap with our sail club's name and logo on the front . Sailing-related things I gave her: A long-sleeved white polo shirt with our club's name and logo on it and a TomTom One GPS for her car. (I call the latter "sailing-related" cuz she became a GPS believer only after seeing what the Garmin does on our boat .)

This Sea Pathfinder is way cool. Very large, which makes it very easy to read at a glance. Settable count-down timers that can be configured to either reset and re-start after each count-down or automatically start stop-watch timing. I think the former would be very handy on a commitee boat when there are multiple starts and the latter terrific if you're racing. As for losing it over-board: I guess anything's possible, but this thing has a resin wrist-strap the width of a small belt .

Sounds like the rest of you got some pretty nice loot, too .

Jim
