novis

I'm not sure why the last poster is assuming the worst of Ross and Jackett in the Novis Marine story. I've done quite a bit a research on it because I am interested in some newer Tartans(among other sailboats) It sure sounds like a disagreement that should be settled by interested parties, and we as bystanders that don't know all the facts should await an outcome. The most that I've been able to deduce is that 2 owners have issues, and for whatever reason, they are not able to come to an agreement with Novis Marine on who is responsible for the issues. I spoke to Tim Jackett and I can tell you he is concerned. I also think Tartan feels much of the problems are self inflicted. The boat owners obviously think otherwise. I am sure we as outsiders should not take sides. As an owner of a small business I can tell you that customers can rationalize any problem they want to and blame it on a large company. That doesn't make the company bad. In my mind, until things shake out, it is just as likely that the 2 boat owners are at fault as it is Novis Marine. In the last 5 years I bet Tartan has a lot more satified owners than unsatisified.

ALL...let's try to avoid re-hashing everything that has been said on the Tartan Buyers thread under "Buying a New Boat". That thread is still open for posts :
http://www.sailnet.com/forums/showth...ghlight=tartan

but let's try to keep this one focused on the Novis sell-out and what it means for CURRENT Tartan owners as further news develops.

Probably VERY little for current owners. They sure haven't called me yet to ask if they could help with any projects.

Jody, if you read all posts by Chilli it's pretty plain to see that Chilli has some interest in Novis. That individual jumped into sailnet and hit the ground running defending Novis. These guys have been chasing each other all over the net.

In short, no Chilli will never be an AFOC....just an A

Dictated, but not read.

Thanks for watching my back (see being AFOC has perks) none the less the original post is unwarranted... but when it comes to safety of sailors - I'll error on the side of the consumer...
