Flicka thread
I have moved the Flicka thread off the general forum and access. It will stay there until we can remove and edit all the personal attacks on all sides - assuming we even bother to go to that length as it would take a lot of time. It no longer provided any useful information and became quite hostile.
Members:
I appreciate and understand that we all have different views. I would ask that YOU appreciate and understand that we all have different views. The personal attacks (AND LINKS TO SUCH) are not neccessary and do little more than alienate you from others here. I will state what I stated before:
Rules of the internet:
1) THere is NOTHING you will do or say that will change a persons mind once it is made up - no matter how coherent or well spoken or logical.
2) There are always those that will never believe rule number one.
I DO NOT HOLD ANY ONE MEMBER RESPONSIBLE! It turned into a free for all on both sides. I will also ask that those who have not been moderators (and even those that have) at very active sites, to please cut us some slack here. We have opinions too - some of them very strong. If it sounds like I am taking up for a moderator - I am. We give of our time freely and take away from our family, business, and friends to try and monitor these threads. Most of the boards I have been exposed to do not monitor these nearly as well in my opinion. But as moderators, we are still allowed to express our opinions. Otherwise, why would we even be here??? Sure is not for the money since we do it for free. We do it to give back to the community that we love - sailing, the ocean, and cruising. Please try and respect that.
There is no reason we cannot move beyond this. We are all sailors - and though no one is as opinionated as sailors, NO OTHER GROUP has as strong an interest in each other and passion for such.
If anyone has any specific questions about this action, you may PM me and we can discuss it more openly. I would prefer to just drop it and move on.
Regards,
- CD
