As far as buying from sailnet, I did a couple of times in 2007. I will admit some times they don't make it easy. I ran into a quick in the system where 90 bucks of stuff was costing $540 to ship. It took a few days to straighten out. But I do try and look here first.

I bought my outboard from the "old" Sailnet several years ago. Best price, great service. I check prices here as a matter of routine if I am considering an internet purchase. I have also been to the Defender spring sale. I found it worthwhile for the bargain bin alone. One thing I particularly liked were the manufacturer's reps who attended. I got some expert advice from the Micron guy about bottom paint that saved me a bundle. You don't get that at any store or on the internet. Oh, and the free can cozy...Shazam!

I needed some plumbing parts, went to a local store (not big box) salesman put together what I needed for 20% of the price that a marine store would charge.

Part of the problem with shopping with Sailnet, is that their store is somewhat less than user-friendly. It really doesn't have as much information on the products as it should, and it's been down the last couple of times I tried to get pricing from them on something.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The last times I checked the SN store I had trouble as well. Do they check feedback here? Hopefully. Many items have no photos. The ones that do have very small photos and even when you click "enlarge" they open in a new (very small) window that is not "maximizeable" and I think is actually smaller than the photo clicked on. I'd really like to see more specs and details on products as well.
