They sent me all three issues and a nice free bonus, a Blue Water Sailing hat that I now wear all over the place. Freebies are still out there.

As far as getting the burgee for free, Sailnet is free to join. They only get advert dollars, so it would be impossible to supply free burgees just to "get the word out" on a free to join web forum. It has to cost something, but $40 still kinda irks me though.

You're all right-on - $40.00 is way too high for a flag that advertises for a profit-based corporation. All my various pennants I bought through organizations like - the North American Nauticat Association, Good Old Boat, Boat US and even the Block Island profile pennant, were all half that amount - or less.

But, I spend far more time here than with any of those affiliates - and regardless of whether I paid for this controversial flag, or not, it would be no big deal to me any way.

True Blue . . .
sold the Nauticat

Personally I think the burgee should be at cost or under cost by a little. Even if they sold 500 under cost by $x it wouldn't be that much of a loss and that could be taken as a tax deduction as advertising (check with your tax consultant). We have no idea of the actual cost or the financial situation of SailNet.

Or instead of under cost up front, maybe it could be under cost after xxx number of posts or after a certain purchase amount at the store.

Either way SailNet comes out on the good side. Cheap enough that people will purchase and a bunch of people that would fly it (advertising for SailNet).

Life is an adventure so get on with it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Free would be crazy, but cheaper would be nice. The boat club I belong to had hand-stiched (not silk-screened) burgees made for something like $20 or $30 a piece.

Hey big News on Burgees!

Sailnet has listened to you all!!
Effective immediately the price of the burgee has been reduced to $29.95 with Free Shipping as well.

I can personally vouch for the quality of this burgee. You can see the pictures above. This is not one that is gonna shred on you in 90 days as it is double cloth and all edges have been sewn.
Fly 'em proudly above your AFOC shorts!!

No longer posting. Reach me by PM!

I went to order one and it won't let me proccess the order without choosing a shipping method.... no "Free" option... only ground for $11.14? That doesn't sound free to me. Am i doing something wrong here?

Sub-Total: $29.95
United Parcel Service ( (Estimated) Ground): $11.14
Total $41.09

The next step is confirming the order and i'm not willing to do that. Free is Free... not $11.14
