For those that are land locked now, here's a small account of our day yesterday. Hope you enjoy it. (I did think about youy guys with the snow)
Yesterday Saturday we started our sailing day at 7 am, didn't return till 7 pm we spent the whole day at sea. We went to bed really tired.
We had races in Lisbon, nothing big just for fun stuff.
There was 420, Optimist, Laser 4.7 and cruiser races.
A little of everything for everyone.
I started off by sailing out of Cascais at 7 am alone with Fred. We were headed to Lisbon, a 12 mile sail, we cooked breakfast at sea and had a good Father/son day on the way to Lisbon. we spoke about stuff...you know...man stuff...dad/son stuff...
Fred insisted in driving...albeit being cold (sorry for us 60ºF is cold)
We then docked in Belém, near Fred’s club, I helped him rig and we all went back to the sea after.
Some of the larger boats were already getting ready.
After our 1st race we went down to see a few of the other races, the 420
And Fred's race. He made 4th overall.
Bellow is Fred doing a nice fast tack right by us. He does tack fast and doesn't splash the boat..good.
And here its us. Nothing fancy as I said.
The day was overcast most of the time, but the wind was constant at 17knots and the swell was large but far appart. So no big waves really, until we got to Cascais...
On the way home, because we "the grownups" were having fun with a botle of wine, Fred took us home...
He did a good job...
In this video bellow you can see how he really pays attention to the wind, compass, sails etc.
When comparing yesterday with 2 days ago...see the difference, specially the wake in the downwind run..that is cool
Today we have a small storm here, so no sail..rained all day and its pretty windy...bummer
