Some sort of budget on what you are willing to spend, should result in better suited recommendations.

FishSticks is on a distinguished road
There are a few nice little steel schooners around. Won't cost you a fortune. Tolerate bouncing across those Cape Cod sandbars. Good for punching through ice and engaging with serious flotsam. Won't have to spend a lot of time varnishing when you go south. Might also be suitable for a new life of fishing if you decide to return to your old ways.

Congrats CodMan!

Do let us know what price range you are looking at. I've been researching boats similar to what you are describing, and as I am more than a year away from purchase; I'd be glad to share what I've found.

Did the hull and the permit go together?

Fred

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Actully know the kids father well and he is getting quite the deal but She was sittin wasting away no sense in that .... budget hmm huge question ... my budget is to spend as little as possible for a great hull with good sails .. the rest I can piece together ,,figure 2 months to find the right hull (((after i collect for the codmander)) Allthough after summer/fall/winter is always the best time to pick up a bargain ... Sad and evil as this sounds wifes mother death will be our target leaving month not for a will.. but wife is a nurse (((need i say more))) anyhow a huge step has been taken here .... budget I WOULD SAY NOT OVER 15/18K of course what I'll be looking for is someone who wants out and willing to give a great boat for dirt money living on the cape this is quite possible
