Sail on bay GySgt (chuck) photos and vid

IMet Chuck also known as GySgt the first time today so went sailing. Another Top fella, though I could not get the helm from him except when he had to go for a leak (small Bladder, old age and excitement) But I want to be on his side in a fight. Great day early start as we wanted to see the Catamaran come in and beat the record, it beat the record and we missed it. Sailed by it but kept our distance as you know you have to watch those multi hull crowd. Too much fog to go out the gate so played in the bay and did some sightseeing between tacks.
Here's the Vid my first attempt. youtube.

one of these is Cuck the helm hog.

Hmm... Well, it would seem that Simon is spending his time wisely out in SFO. Gysgt...what'd you think of our resident Aussie and his new-to-him boat.

What size catamaran was that...looks pretty big.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

That's Gitana 13; they broke the "Route de l'Or" (The Gold Route) record today. New York to San Francisco in 43 Days, 38 Min. The boat is 110ft. This voyage took 6-8 months during the gold rush era!

They got here too early!! We wanted to watch them sail in; but the ETA was predicted to be 7AM and they ended up coming in at 8:30. We were hoping for them to arrive late so we did not have to sail out in darkness to see their arrival. Since Simon/Chuck had planned for 9AM I decided not to go; too many projects to take off for a 2'nd weekday sail...

Thanks for the info Keelhaulin... but I still can't believe you let work interfere with a day of sailing...
