Icons--what's the blue check-mark?

I assume it meant it's a good thread in some way. Do moderators add them?

What about "stars"? Same deal? I suppose there's a user page explaining it, but I didn't find it.

I believe the blue check means that the OP had a reply....which I'll find out as soon as I post this. The PushPin means it is a sticky and I believe the stars are from the Rate this thread option in the advanced reply page.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Yup... now you have a blue check mark on the thread... IIRC, the Paperclip means that there are attachments in the thread.

/\/\ Are you sure, I think that the blue checkmark means you're subscribed to the thread. If you put your mouse over it will say "You are subscribed to this thread"

This is the image you are talking about, right?

If you have your control panel set that everytime you reply to the thread it subscribes you to it, then that would explain some of the confusion.

The stars come from user ratings, you can rate the thread by clicking the down facing arrow to the right of "Search this thread"

The blue check mark denotes that you have made a contribution to a thread, regardless of being the OP (original poster). If you click on the number that's listed under the Replies column, you will see a breakdown of all posters to that particular thread.

The setting is under User CP > Edit Options >

Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Okay, I just wondered since the check-mark (as also do the stars) appears under the heading of "Rating"

And it seems the colored envelopes to the left of each thread do the same thing, the bent arrow means you've contributed to that thread.

So I can't flatter myself that any thread I contributed to is a "good" thread, then? ;-)

All you have to do is put your cursor over it, and it tells you what it is.
