Giulietta is just really nice Giulietta is just really nice Giulietta is just really nice Giulietta is just really nice Giulietta is just really nice
Is it just me that sees it???

So here I am, my last few days in Canada...having a boring Sunday...

So I buy an edition of a well known U.S. sailing magazine...don't want to say the name but rymes with snail...

I read the few articles I could amidst the advertisment and useless crap...

So here is what I think...

I am almost sure that the people writting those articles, come here to us, ask questions and get their answers...then go back to their laptops and writte their articles..

not once, not twice, but many times I remember a certain subject being discussed here with us, only to see the same subject published a month later or so, condensing most of the stuff we discussed...am I paranoid??

Is that you mummy????

Well considering most of what we post is pure crap, I wouldn't be surprised if it was more than coincidence.

As much as I see complaints about "Sail" magazine, I like where they've taken it. It's like "Short Attention Span Theater" now... most articles only take one page.. it's light reading, which is good when I have short periods of time to fill...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Giulietta,

You may be right, at times I've thought I noticed similar coincidences (not specifically in the mag you didn't mention, but across a variety of magazines). That is partly why I am a bit suspicious at times, and don't bother replying to certain posts (not that I've ever written anything worth repeating in print, but...)

I'm not sure Good Old Boat would interest you a great deal (maybe?). Given your preference for racing, you might try to pick up a copy of Sailing World, which is geared more toward competitive racing and designs.

That's the trend in general for most publications these days-- make it short and sweet and move on to the next article. People really don't have time for magazines these days, so long articles are very rare. Has happened in Sports Illustrated as another example. About the only mag still printing thorough (meaning longish) articles is Good Old Boat

I just signed up for 3 years of Cruising World for $28. That's the total price. That's $9.33 a year -- about 78 cents an issue. And frankly, that's about what it's worth to me!

Disclosure -- Once upon a time I write a few articles for GOB and quite a few for SpinSheet here in Chesapeake country. I stopped doing that when the day job overwhelmed me. But now that I am "retired" I have started up the writing gig again.
