Advice on Moving a Cradle in Ontario, Canada

I need to move a large cradle 20' x 8 1/2' weighing 850 lbs from Sarnia, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario.

I am looking for advice on:
1)professionals who could do the job for me; any info oin price would be useful
2)how to do it myself; any recommendations from someone who has done this

Wrt 2) above it looks like I could rent a car trailer (flat bed) for $200 and put the cradle on its side for transportation, suitably tied down of course. The 8 1/2' width poses a problem for standard trailers but on its side it should fit fine. Of course I need help with equipment at each end for loading/unloading which can be arranged.

Why not call a towing company that has what is called a rollback truck? It's a flatbed that tilts and rolls back to the car (cradle in your case) A few people in my YC have used them. It seems to work out real good.

Call the Cradle Shop in Toronto. They make and deliver cradles all over. I'm sure they'd move it for you for a price.

There is a guy (I believe his last name is Sutherland) who does this as a business. If you call Bronte Outer Harbour Marina at (905) 827-7575 and ask Sharon for his number she will give it to you... Explain what you need to Sharon, don't go by the name because I might have him confused with someone else...

Try http://www.boatforsale.net/class/ Trailer & Transportation under Equipment and Services. Lots of marine transport companies that would probably give you a good rate if you're not in a hurry. I spotted a few in your area.

Old thread but consider getting a welder with a magma cutter to cut the cradle (asuming steel), ship it and get another welder to reassemble it at the other end.

No big deal.
