Good places to charter boats for day sails on Chesapeak

I'd like to take out some friends and family for a day sail on the bay, and wanted to know if anyone here has chartered smaller boats for shorter periods of time. Requirements would be 6 people total, probably less, and we wouldn't need a stove, sleeping room, or other "fluff" items. We'd bring our lunch and cooler of course.

I found one place that offers flying scots and some other larger boats last year, but now I can't seem to find their site. I'll continue the search, but if anyone would like to post a place they've used before with good results, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

PS - cost is always a concern, so if you have the prices, feel free to post em, or a link where I can get to them. Thanks again.

oops, anywhere from annapolis and south would be a good location.

There should be a few places in Annapolis. You might inquire with the sailing schools. If you want to go sporty, J-World/J-Port in Annapolis might let you rent out a J-80, which would be a good choice but $$$.

A Flying Scot would be good if it wasn't too choppy/windy. Otherwise, you'd want to limit the trip to well protected waters if the wind is piping up, unless you like getting wet/beaten up.

Nice boats, decent prices. The first time we went out with one of their boats, the mainsail tore in some not-very-high winds. They offered to bend on a new main for us (no questions asked about fault), but two of my three crew were seasick, so we said no thanks. They gave us a half-day back on our day's rental that we used another time.

They also gave a nice briefing about getting out of the South River into the Bay, and provided charts.

I am not affiliated with them in any way. But I would rent from them again in an instant if I didn't have my own boat now.

I can't charter, but you are welcome to ride/crew etc..anytime I'm going out which is most weekends.
