Anchor Light - Newbie Question

Is there a difference between an "anchor" light and a "windex" light, i.e. does a windex light typically meet the coast guard requirements for a boat at anchor?

A windex light is so very small and hardly visible even from quite small distances away. Sometimes it is likely to be blocked from view by other masthead hardware. (I''m ashamed to admit that I have firsthand experience with all the above limitations.)

A masthead light is typically designed to be visible from at least 2nm, which depending on your vessel''s size, is probably the legal minimum.

Which would you rather be using in a dark anchorage?
