I only use the forum. I see the ads as I'm considering replies etc..but frankly I'm here for information, not products.

The new scrolling ad across the top of the home page is much better than the old semi-permanent ad for Florida real estate or whatever it was that I was ignoring before. I'll bet that you'll find a lot better sale response on that VHF as a result too! You did make the forums a pain to get to and made the articles a real effort to pull up. Otherwise it's much cleaner look.

Put the photo gallery in it's own forum. Instead of the three picture display down where nobody scrolls to, rotate one nice photo as you are with the Greek flagged yacht up top. (Make it real simple and just use Ian Holland's photos only. And I'm not talking about the sunset's here!)

The store is immeasurably improved by having the manufacturer's link with each item. Way to go!

I almost never click on an ad and never look at the bottom of the home page. If you want to attract attention to the bottom of the home page you could locate the Sex on Boats forum there. Seriously though, there's no reason to go there currently.

I dont mind the Home page...I like how you have a changing banner on top with some hot deals...could put a few more in rotation to gain exposure...And Bikinis do work...were visual right...I do scroll down as far as the pictures but no farther...

What's on the home page? I always come directly to the forums. You should sell the columns of either side of these pages -- not that we'd pay much attention, but you don't have to tell the advertisers that. You could price the topics and the threads based their longevity and number of views, e.g. the "Where is this place...." would cost more than (sorry ladies) anything on "herSailnet".

I might be the rare breed... I usually go to the homepage to see the "latest and greatest forum posts" and usually spot the flash banner on the top. I don't really scroll all the way down to the bottom. So, top banner, yes. Bottom banner, not so much. I have looked at the store here though. There's a few things in there that has my attention at the moment.

I have my post settings so they always show most recent up top and never see anything more than 2/3 down of the page...a side banner - or maybe if the admins would allow individuals to pay to have an ad in their signature - maybe a way to go....

But rarely do I personally pay attention to the big adds at top as I try to stay off the home page....

I go right to the home page and click on New Posts in the User CP box -- upper left. I never see the bottom of the home page, and don't pay much attention to the ads at the top either. Can't recall the last time I clicked on an ad link on a website.

I link right to the forums, but to the original question, I would notice a side banner but probably wouldn't ever see one on the bottom.

I just made my first purchase at Sailnet this week. I wanted to support Sailnet and the prices were good, but the web store isn't very developed and searching was a pain. I did find what I was looking for (sta-lok formers) but a lot of other items didn't have photos or much of a description.

I don't seem to ever scroll down to the bottom of the home page. I do see the ads and have purchased a genoa from FX sails, and a harness/inflatable life jacket from the sailnet store. I did so, because the prices/product seemed good, and because I wanted to support Sailnet.

The ultimate decision to purchase here over similar offers was because I wanted to support Sailnet.
