Board Usage Survey

I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or another, but it does relate to the site generally. Plus, Cam gave me the go-ahead to ask this question, so here goes.

How many of you scroll down the homepage to see what's at the bottom? We are embarking on an advertising campaign, and I'm curious to know whether a horizontal banner at the bottom of the homepage actually will reach anyone.

Likewise, do you check out and click on any of the advertising at all?

Thanks folks. Your input is much appreciated.

I asked the same question to "support@sailnet.com" about a week ago and haven't received a reply - I also was interested in posting an ad - don't know what the rates are or how many hits they get. Personally, I hardly ever even notice ads on the internet - unless there's scantily clad women.

I have clicked on a few. I have never seen an ad on the bottom of the home page.

Tania's devoted to the cause, but I have a feeling she won't be willing to go that far.

I think there's a problem with the support@sailnet.com address. I tried it several times but never got a response. Ultimately I called the 800 number reflected on the homepage, and that's how I managed to get through. Email Doug directly at 'Doug.Bender@minddrivers.com' Doug's a great guy and I'm sure he'll be very helpful.

From the responses so far it seems as though we need to get off the bottom of the homepage and onto somewhere more prominent.

I am not sure what your selling, not that it matters. If your have a web site and I assume that you do, you may also want to pay a service to get you ranked on the search engines. It has worked well for me, over the years.

Since they changed the homepage I made a new bookmark that goes directly to the forums. They have conveniently not provided a link (that I can find) to the forums on the new homepage, you need to click on a thread and then go to the forums. Before the change I did look at the ads, but I don't think I ever saw one at the bottom, if in fact there was ever one there. Now I never see the homepage, bad idea in my opinion.

I'm a creature of habit. I know where to go on the site to get what I want and that's it. I don't even scroll on the homepage. I click my user cp and go from there. I also don't notice the ads that much except for that insurance ad with the power boat hitting rocks and bouys then turning turtle , that one if fun. Too bad I don't need the service.

As Jrd22 brought up (and this should be addressed to admin) where is the forums link on the homepage??

EDIT: Found the forum link. It's under resources tab on the top banner. It was better when it was out in the open though.
