Father and Son sailing: Christopher Buckley and his Dad
Nice post...and I've known C. Buckley as a superb writer for some years now. Considerably less baroque than his father's writing, but very cogent nonetheless.
Thanks Sailaway. Chris Buckley is an elegant writer, and regardless of your opinion of his politics, Bill Buckley was a character. btw, it has nothing to do with sailing, but if you want to read a laugh-out-loud funny book, try Chris' "Thank You for Smoking". They made a movie of it a couple of years ago that didn't come close to doing justice to the book.
Boatless...his other two sailing books are Airborne and Racing Through Paradise. I thought Airborne was excellent but if you did not enjoy Atlantic High, he is maybe not for you.
I have not read Atlantic High, but I really enjoyed both Racing through Paradice and Airborne. Both include glimpses into his life, friends and family. He had an amazing relationship with his son. This comes through very well in the article that started this thread.
Excellent read by a talented writer! Thanks for posting
