Round the world race ... in 10ft sailboats !!!

Stumbled across this page announcing a round the world race in 10 foot boats starting the January,10, 2009.

Ports of call on route will be :

1 Start - Bahamas
2 Panama Canal
3 Darwin
4 Cape Town
5 Finish - Bahamas

So far 6 people (4 US, 1 Israeli, 1 Belgium) have signed up, but registration is still open.

Anyone around here crazy enough to wanna represent us Sailnetters and join the show ?

More info can be found under : Around in TEN - Home page

Let see the water line lenght will be about 9 feet so the probable speed of these mity mites will be about a whopping FOUR Whole Knots more or less pending on the wind. Or about two hundred and twenty five days or more to go around the earth. Probably longer because they have to go around some land masses

A voyage from Panama to Darwin on a 10 ft boat is going to require some pretty creative food stowage ideas. Unless they're really large people on a serious diet.

Personally I think these racers are a bunch of P*&&%#s. They are taking the Panama canal and not go'in "Round the Horn", What the heck is that all about? (LOL) As an aside, nay, an actuallity.... I am a bigger one and wouldn't dream of doing that in a "Micro". I can't wait to see what the results are....

Best of luck and health to them all,
Hold these brave Sailors in our prayers....
