Manta Clipper

This "Manta Clipper" struck me as an interesting looking boat. It's almost a trimaran ?

I'm not going to buy it, it's just quite unusual looking. Anybody know anything about it ?

Sailormann will become famous soon enough
I know that it is not particularly seaworthy and one of the butt-ugliest things afloat.

Hope that helps

"Interesting looking" is one way of describing it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Well, I already knew that I'd be in the minority in thinking it looked interesting as opposed to just plain ugly.

Does anybody know how the wings? amas? sticking off the side would affect the boat performance though ?

They don't extend as far out as the amas on a trimaran, and they aren't very long compared to the overall length of the boat.

And would they prevent/reduce heeling?

All theoretical questions, in the absence of anyone who's actually sailed such a vessel... google didn't bring up much in the way of information.

That is one of the strangest looking sailing vessels I've seen. What's even stranger is it's docked at a marina just across the Bay from our marina. In the 14 years we've been there, never encountered it - and we've gone out a lot.

The helm looks like it belongs on a powerboat - was thinking that tacking must be hell with that set-up.

But then I noticed the self-tending jib and furling main, between that odd "A pod" mast.

Don't know how well it sails, but if the absence of a bow wave is an indicator, it moves like a slug.
