Hadn't seen any mention of it, but they finally managed to drag her to deeper water.

Guess I missed it. I saw a thread when it was stuck, but hadn't seen something on getting it loose.

This means that it is no longer a moument to the vessel's navigator's skills.

Not taking his side on things, I think he made bad choices that set him up for trouble before the storm ever caught him, but it's hard to navigate with no power in a storm.

When you have lost power and drifting toward land or shoals, you walk out your anchor for it to catch bottom before you are driven onto the beach. But then again anchors do drag and it may not save you. But it is the only recourse you have until the engineer works a miracle and gets the main engines back on line.

The rather massive anchors had already broken. They didn't drag, they literally broke. The boat had the power to be totally clear of the area, but I guess that'd have cost too much fuel, so they holed up thinking they'd ride it out as they had in another storm. The anchors broke, then they eventually had to cut the engines for fear of starting a fire after taking several tons of water. Why ride it out when you can run like hell?!!! Like the locals say, "I woulda done been gone!"
