Pictures of your favorite Puget Sound Anchorages

Here's a great resource for Puget Sound sailors. Aerial photographs of the Washington Shorelines. I use a laptop hooked to a gps for a chart plotter. My navigation software allows me to attach pictures to the charts, so I've gone through and downloaded pictures of each anchorage we use or might use and pinned them to my chart. So I can click on the picture and have a birdseye view of the rock I'm about to discover.

Is that Tier Loose tied to the dock I see?

Nope, double spreaders (I checked). I think these must have been taken at least 4 years ago because we changed the color of the roof of the cabin from blue to red then. We are three houses down the beach from the marina, you can see it in one of the other pics. You'll have to stop by when you are going through Peavine sometime Ray.

Now why would you want a birds eye view of the rock you're going to hit? Much better to just hit the thing and knock it out of your way! yep that is true. Or is it so your boat can have the pleasure of being the one that "HAS gone aground" vs "Going to go aground"

Ok enough silliness on my part.

Somehow I have always liked Jones island in the san juans, and spencer spit.

Ah, Jones Island. One of the few places we've stern tied in the San Juans. We were buddy boating with my folks one time and had a 6:00 am departure agreement. At 0530 hrs., I woke up and looked over at my folks boat and saw their rudder perched on a rock. After noting their boat's attitude and checking the tide book I went back to bed for two more hours.

You know, I've fueled up there and bought ice, but I've never been in the marina proper. John, is there transient moorage in there?

Ray- I think Ken has about 16 transient slips this year. Not sure what the rate is, .75/ft? Tie up to the fuel dock out front first or call on 66 for a slip. He has really fixed up the store a lot in the last two years. A real soda fountain, pizza oven, free wifi, huge waffle cones and espresso, good selection of beer and wine and groceries. The island is private so there isn't really anywhere to go, but if any of you stop by walk down the beach and see if we are home. Third place you come to, red roof, barking dog , if the flag is up we are there.

I should have mentioned that the current runs OPPOSITE the direction in Peavine Pass at the gas dock (both sides). Makes for some really interesting docking experiences .
