HAH! (Finally)
 

My much better 1/2 took pity on me and let me buy the Catalina 22 I've had my eye on for awhile:

1980 Swing Keel, trailer etc....

I bought the boat from the original owner and it (the boat is all there and well cared for)

I grew up sailing a Tartan 30 and 37 but this boat will be a trailer sailor. The bottom is painted with something that looks like old fashioned shellac (it's not bottom paint) any idea what this is? A barrier coat? There are no blisters that I can see but I'm not 100% sure what I am looking at.

Anyone in South Florida want a free lunch for a point towards an honest marina?

Have sailed with a friend's Catalina 22 and really enjoyed it... He made a really nice looking box to mount his camp stove that slid under into the quarter berth on the starboardside.
We knocked it down to where the spreader touched the water, but she came right back up. That heavy swing keel did the trick on that one.

Here she is... dirty, very dirty!

The 2nd and 3rd picture show the 'shellac' looking bottom paint.. The dark red bottom paint just washed right off, leaving this shellac looking stuff over what 'looks' to be the gel coat....
