Sailboat lift?

Saw this over the weekend and got a kick out of it, thought some of you might too. i asked the guy what model and he stated "it's a 23' somethin-somethin" i then asked him about the lift and he said it was his buddys (power boater). his buddy then walked down the dock and said i was welcome to use it anytime heh heh. i didnt plan on it but maybe ill do it for fun. enjoy!

how do you get up onto it? Do you fill it with water to sink it then let the water out like a dry dock kinda?

turn a lever on the lift control box, the tanks fill with water and the boat lowers into the water. to lift turn the handle to the other position and the tanks fill with a compressor and rise...quick too.

A powerboater has a similar one in our marina, different, but the same idea. There is a "control unit" on the dock, similar to a dock box, which has an air compressor and you fill the black "pontoons" with air to get it out of the water and you can also fill it with water to lower it to the water. The first time I saw it I found it just a funny & curious, but it certainly works like a charm. I've seen guy use it a couple of time and of course, no growth at all on the hull. On a sailboat it certainly reduces the area that will get growth.

There was a J92 I raced on (crew only) that used one of those so he did not have to put on bottom paint. He built a large deck around it and everything.

Are the chambers/frame sized appropriately for the boat so that it won't tip over, or does it ride up and down on some assembly?

the lift is actually for the guys ski boat, but it seemed to fit the little 23 footer pretty good
