Opening day at a REAL club

I thought you guys might like to see what opening day looks like at REAL yacht club, not one of those marinas for hire that claim to be clubs.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I thought yacht clubs went sailing. That looks more like Habitat for Humanity. I kept expecting to see a pic of Jimmy Carter!

Saturday was Commissioning Day at our club. Blue blazers and gray pants in abundance. Club has been on the same spot on Hempstead Harbor in Glen Cove, NY since 1891.

The red plastic cups and shorts kind of kill the whole idea...
