The new company will be named Garmarine and directions to HQ will be using Wgs 84 standard.

Well, that would go along with the recent push that Garmin has made into broadening their product line.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I thought about buying Garmin stock before its run up (wish I had), but now it's hard to say if it's a buy yet...might be a long time before another run up even if it buys Raymarine. If Garmin does buy, and keeps Raymarine intact, that would help Raymarine's stock first...decisions, decisions

My speculation...
IF Garmin does buy Ray, they can do 2 things...disolve Ray and force everybody to Garmin or keep Ray as a second product line.
If they dump the Ray name, there should be some good bargains on closeout stuff. But either way, they will have a lock on marine electronics and prices will go up.

My vote for the new name of the mergered marine divisions is "Gaymarine"

According to the article "Boat electronics specialist Raymarine said takeover talks have been terminated and added that first quarter underlying sales were below last year."...So were Garmin's...big time. This sub prime debacle ran much deeper than the 'experts' thought it would.
