taking courses for work (Caribbean)

I will be living for a couple of yrs. on my sailboat in the Caribbean and would like to take some courses to make some $$ in the meantime . I hope to take some courses at a community college or trade school. Which courses would lead to finding some work in the Islands

Sail making and repair

Diesel engine repair

Small electronics repair

or ??

Thanks

I think Diesel engine repair would be the best one to do... it requires fairly little in the way of equipment, since most sailboats have very primitive diesel engines. I would expand this to cover plumbing and water makers...as well as some basic electrical, since plumbing and electrical are both also associated with a diesel engine's normal operations...

Sailmaking requires loft space, which can be expensive. A better alternative would be canvas work... but this can also require specialized tools that may be too bulky to store and use on a boat.

Electronics repair requires specialized equipment and space that is much more capital intensive and not well suited to being kept on a small sailboat due to the close proximity of salt and humidity.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
