Where do I buy a boat model?

It's easy to find full models of early 1900 Americas Cup boats, or square riggers, or any number of older boats, but I can't seem to find any 20"+ modern racing or cruising sloops for under $400. I've found modern day Americas Cup replicas for $2k+, but that's too much. I'm looking for something to put in my office to stare at when stressed since I'm a good 2.5 hour trip from our boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might find modern full display models?

I see ads for model boats in the back of sail and Cruising World magazines, all the time. Have you called a good local hobby store ? I was in one a month ago that had some really nice sailboat models.

My wife works with the Preservation Society of Newport, which has several stores located on Bannisters Wharf and each of the Newport Mansions. There are literally hundreds of different reproduction models of mostly Americas Cup yachts for sale at reasonable prices. They also have replicas of more modern yachts as well.

Tom, FS - Thanks for the tips, but what I'm looking for are modern day boats - 1980's and after. At the back of CW and at landandseacollection.com they focus on antique or older vessels, or remote control boats that cost >$1k. Check out Saga 43 full display model 25 LOA for an example of the type of thing I'm looking for, although not quite so detailed so the price is actually approachable (<=$400 budget).

TB- Any clue what type of modern yachts they have at your wife's work? I might have to just go out to Newport just to see!
